Dodge hasn’t announced plans to offer a convertible version of its latest Charger EV, but one company has the option covered. Drop Top Customs, a coachbuilder based in High Springs, Florida known for converting modern Dodge Challenger coupes to convertibles with power canvas roofs, just revealed its latest offering: A 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV Convertible.
The new convertible conversion is almost ready for delivery, hence Drop Top Customs’ latest announcement. The company recently posted photos of the topless Charger Daytona EV on social media, calling it the DroptopDaytona and asking for feedback from the audience.
Drop Top Customs is fueled by the folks who have a penchant for driving with the wind rushing through their hair. Its aftermarket offerings for the previous Dodge Challenger model, including having the convertible conversion offered directly at select Dodge dealerships, caught the attention of the public in 2022, and the company’s popularity has only grown since.
Details for the Dodge Charger Daytona convertible conversion have not yet been shared, but we do know that the prior Challenger conversion required structural reinforcements after chopping the roof and its pillars. The hefty Charger Daytona, weighing in at 5,838 pounds from the factory, could see a weight gain from the conversion. Approximately 20-percent of the trunk space is required for the powered convertible roof mechanism.
Pricing is also unknown, but the Challenger conversion starts at $23,999, not including the vehicle’s transport costs. The cost includes the installation of the powered soft top roof, plus a heated rear window and retracting rear quarter windows. Drop Top Customs also offers upgrades for the interior, such as Katzkin leather trim for the seats and center console at an extra cost.
From the factory, the 456-horsepower 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model starts at $61,590, and the 630-horsepower Scat Pack model starts at $75,185.
