What Honda’s next electric SUV might look like?
Honda has teased two new prototypes that will be unveiled at CES in 2025. We take a look at what a newer, larger, electric Honda SUV might look like.
In its newest teaser, Honda has stated that its latest prototypes will showcase a new design language for future electric production models that will be globally available for purchase as early as 2026. Of the two models teased, one looks like a sleek, wedge-shaped sports car, and the other seems to be a unique and boxy SUV or crossover. The automaker hasn't released any information other than two futuristic-looking shadowy silhouettes.
The teaser's overall tone is eerily familiar
If you've been reading the latest in automotive news, you'll no doubt have seen Jaguar's bold new marketing campaign, which involves the "Type 00" concept car, set upon a tantalizing pink background with a surrealist tone. From Honda's recently teased "0 Series" models, set upon a similarly pink fantasy backdrop, we can't help but notice the similarities. Perhaps Honda, too, wants buyers to see their upcoming EV models as a "fresh start" for the brand's persona.

Although a wedge-shaped, electric Honda supercar could either be a spectacular pipe dream, a polarizing concept designed to draw attention, or even a hint to suggest a possible electric NSX being in development, a newer, larger, electric Honda SUV seems like a more realistic addition to Honda's global lineup. Using generative text-to-image artificial intelligence, we can have some sort of idea of what it might look like on the road.
Honda's next electric SUV will have bold, striking styling
We've seen these kinds of design cues everywhere recently. Hyundai's new Ioniq 9 drew plenty of acclaim for its poised design which somehow combined ultra-futuristic styling with understated handsomeness. BMW has made sure its recent EV offerings possess a massively dominant road presence, for better or for worse. It would only make sense for Honda to follow suit and unveil something provocative to get the people going.

Honda's next electric SUV will likely make use of contemporary EV amenities such as blind spot cameras that replace side view mirrors and cyberpunk-like wheels that increase aerodynamics and emphasize the vehicle's generally futuristic styling cues. Eccentric exterior LED lighting will enhance the vehicle's road presence and simultaneously increase safety thanks to improved visibility both for drivers and for other traffic.
Cyberpunk and minimalism collide to form a new reality
Following the exterior styling, the EV SUV's interior will similarly combine minimalist simplicity with cyberpunk functionality and technology. A dash-width screen will centralize driver information, infotainment, and passenger entertainment. As it won't need a transmission tunnel, an absent center console frees up space and gives the cabin a more spacious feel.

Other styling elements, such as a frameless rear-view mirror (which would likely include a digital mirror function), LED accent lighting, and uniform color schemes, add to the minimalist cleanliness of the interior environment. Large, high-rising windows will allow for more natural light, further enhancing the feeling of openness in the cabin.
Final thoughts
Honda's recently teased next-generation EV styling is reminiscent of older Honda concept vehicles but with a contemporary touch. Their bold shapes and unique styling, combined with Honda's rapidly advancing EV technology, will certainly make for interesting production vehicles, and we're excited to see the final products.
