When Ford Performance first announced its goal to lap the famous Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes with the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, automotive news headlines went wild. After all, the company wasn’t exactly subtle about their ambitions to be the first automaker from the United States to send a production car out to the public that can lap the ‘Ring in less than 7 minutes. The teaser video that followed only left us craving more.
Earlier this year, Ford officially revealed the performance numbers of its all-new 2025 Mustang GTD, and our suspicions were finally validated: The Mustang GTD sets a new performance bar for the Blue Oval brand with an adrenaline-pumping 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. It tops out at 202 miles-per-hour, making it the most powerful street-legal Mustang ever produced in Ford’s history. It is, indeed, an 800-plus horsepower street-legal track monster.
Ford kept its promise and was the first domestic automaker to break the 7-minute barrier, something we assumed already happened as soon as the teaser video was released, but now we have the footage and the numbers. The Ford Mustang GTD lapped the Nürburgring in 6 minutes, 57 seconds, and change.
The full documentary is 14-minutes long and highlights Ford’s the trip to Germany and the Mustang GTD’s record run, but those who just want to get straight to the unedited action, here is the official 6:57.685 lap posted by the official Nürburgring YouTube account:
Ford received over 7,500 applicants for the $325,000 Ford Mustang GTD, and that was well before Ford released the “Road to the ‘Ring” trailer to the masses. Now you can follow the Blue Oval’s full journey to the Nürburgring, which features the electric muscle car’s development, its preparation for the official lap, and the team’s celebrations after the successful trip around the 12.9-mile course.
