What once began as the automotive pride of Italy in 1927, the 1000 Miglia (Mille Migilia) has since expanded around the globe with events in Japan, China, the United Arab Emirates, and now the United States. That’s right: The iconic 1000 Miglia, famously dubbed “the most beautiful race in the world” by Enzo Ferrari, is making history by hosting its first-ever experience in Florida this February.
Earlier this year, 18 cars competed in the in the one-day 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA, taking place on roads in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland.
February’s first Florida Mille will begin with a Training Day with an exposition open to the public from 9:00am to 12:00 pm of February 22nd at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, followed by technical trials from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, also open to the public, at Matheson Hammock Park & Marina.
The “1000 Miglia Florida” will start and finish in the Miami area over what organizers describe as “three thrilling days.” Here are the details provided in the press release:
- February 23: Starting from Coral Gables, crossing the Italian Consulate for stamp check, the cars will travel through Everglades, Naples, and Venice, before concluding the day in Tampa, specifically at the Motor Enclave.
- February 24: The second leg will take participants from Tampa through Central Florida, featuring iconic stops such as the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, before heading back toward West Palm Beach.
- February 25: The final leg will see the cars return to Miami, passing from Worth Avenue in West Palm Beach, crossing Boca Raton and finishing in grand style crossing Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, followed by a celebratory award ceremony.
“Bringing the spirit of 1000 Miglia to Florida for the first time is an extraordinary milestone,” said Claudia Maria Golinelli, President of EGA, official licensee of the 1000 Miglia Experience Florida. “This inaugural edition combines the charm and elegance of Italy’s most celebrated race with the vibrant energy of Florida. We’re thrilled to invite participants and spectators alike to join us in writing a new chapter in this iconic story.”
The Florida Mille is the latest event added in the 1000 Miglia’s global brand expansion. Races that honor the historic event have appeared in China and the United Arab Emirates, as well as numerous 1000 Miglia-organized events in Europe.
“Mille Miglia continues to grow, in a good way, taking Brescia with it into the world,” said Beatrice Saottini, the organization’s president. “There’s a strong team behind us that shares our vision, and this very strong vision, which Alberto brought into the US. Because of the brand, because of the cultural aspects, and also because of the meaning, and the deep feeling, of our race, we have tried to create something really beautiful, and really emotional, for all of you.”
The deadline to register the Florida Mille has been extended to January 31, 2025. Cruise over to the Mille Miglia website for more information.
