The cool thing about hot rodding is that there are constantly new ideas coming out that can make life easier. Some of which are so good you wonder how you’ve got along without them. This happened to us a couple of years ago when a friend showed us these slick Mag Daddy magnets that use a small rectangle holder big enough for a plastic zip tie.
These magnets are no slouches. In fact, even the little ones in our photos are difficult to pull vertically off a ferrous surface. To remove them, we generally just pull them laterally until they slide off the side of the surface! The larger magnets offer up to 23 pounds of retention force.
On the Mag Daddy website we found dozens of different applications too numerous to mention here, but the zip tie idea is just one of several that you may find useful.
These are great for temporary (or permanent) mounts to retain wires, oil pressure lines, or other lightweight parts that can be quickly routed with zip ties. Larger Mag Daddy magnets offer serious holding power, and we can think of dozens of uses to help keep the under-dash area organized for our drag car. We found our Mag Daddy magnets at Summit Racing, or you can go directly to their website.
