Jinkies! Unleash Your Inner Sleuth With One of These Three Mystery Machines

So you and your three best pals want to travel the countryside solving mysteries, but you don’t have a suitable vehicle? Don’t worry, Hemmings is here to help. We’ve found three tributes to the Mystery Machine used in the Scooby-Doo cartoon series. The make of the van was never disclosed (and we’re not going downthat rabbit hole), but as luck would have it, these Mystery Machines represent each of Detroit’s Big Three. Which one comes closest to the mark for you?

1964 Ford Econoline

Let’s lead off with this 1964 Ford Econoline. According to the seller, the van is powered by a 200-cu.in. inline-six with a high compression head, paired with a three-speed automatic. The paintwork is teal, with the Scooby-Doo graphics applied with a wrap.

The cockpit features mauve paint and Scooby seat covers, while the back has a bed with a Scooby quilt and a pair of lanterns that would be perfect for chasing ghosts around Old Man Johnson’s creepy mansion.

The Econoline has an asking price of $29,900.

1979 Chevrolet G20

Our next Mystery Machine comes from GM’s Bowtie Division. It’s a 1979 Chevrolet G20, with a 5-liter V-8 and an automatic transmission. The graphics, which mimic the van used in the 2002 live-action movie rather than the cartoon, are painted on. Those meddling teenagers and their dog are depicted in graphics on the side and rear windows. Zoinks!

Inside is a spot for secret meetings of the Mystery Inc. team, surrounded by spooky graphics that go heavy on lightning and flashlights, just like the original series. Note the shaggy (sorry!) trim on the A-pillar.

If you’re interested, you’ll have to get in touch with the selling dealer for the asking price. Looks like you’ve got another mystery on your hands, kids!

1977 Dodge B150

Our final Mystery Machine is this 1977 Dodge B150. According to the seller, it’s powered by a 318-cu.in. V-8, mated to a three-speed automatic. We’re guessing that the graphics are painted on, though that detail isn’t revealed. Who brought their magnifying glass?

The creator of this Mystery Machine went with a custom interior color-keyed to the exterior. Inside, there’s a life-size Scooby-Doo, presumably waiting for his Scooby Snack. Hey, Scoob!

This Mystery Machine has an asking price of $29,500.

Now that you’ve read all the way to the end — thanks! — you deserve a Scooby treat of your own. Here you go!
