It’s equipped with a 5.8-liter V8 (with EFI) paired with a four-speed automatic transmission for easy cruising. 1955 Alco Aljoa Sportsman Vintage Camp Trailer
For those of you who already have a decent truck or SUV to tow with, there is a variety of vintage camping trailers and a handful of modern camp trailers on Hemmings Marketplace as well, such as this 1955 Alco Aljoa Sportsman 16 Vintage Camp Trailer. It was purchased by camper restoration specialist Ron Head around 10 years ago where it received an overhaul.
During the rebuild, exterior repairs were made, the wiring was upgraded, and it was equipped with a modern Romex/NM cable, which added several 120V outdoor and indoor outlets along with new wall mounted lamps. The camper is fully insulated and all structural wood was replaced. Inside, the cabinets were refinished, with most of the interior structure rebuilt with marine grade plywood. Its space features an aluminum “tin ceiling” back splash, new counter-tops, a sink, refreshed Preway propane stove, a new Frigidaire propane refrigerator, new upholstered seat cushions, a new memory foam bed, and a new black and white checkered vinyl floor. All interior wood was sanded and stained, finished to match the original appearance. The layout is set up with a table and two benches with underside storage to the right, a galley kitchen straight ahead, and off to the left is the sleeping area with a double bed, small closet and upper storage shelf. The ssking price on this not often seen 16 foot Aljoa Sportsman Camper is $23,800.
