Chevrolet is spilling more details on the performance capabilities of the C8 Corvette ZR1 prior to its release. With 1,064 horsepower on tap, the 2025 ZR1 is proving to be an impressive performer and after learning the top speed, we now know how quick it will be.

High power pays off

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette is capable of 0-60 miles per hour in just 2.3 seconds and blasting through the quarter mile in 9.6 seconds with a trap speed of 150 mph. That’s Bugatti Chiron, Porsche 918 Spyder, and McLaren P1 levels of blisteringly quick.

The mind-boggling numbers are pulled off if the 2025 Corvette ZR1 is equipped with the ZTK package, which includes the Carbon Fiber Aero package seen in the pictures, along with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

No ZTK? No problem. Chevrolet says the “Standard” Corvette ZR1 is still capable of a 0-60 launch of 2.5 seconds and finishing the quarter mile in 9.7 seconds. Without the 1,200 pounds of downforce supplied by the Aero package, the Corvette clocks a slightly higher trap speed of 152 mph. All tests were performed on a claimed non-prepped drag strip surface, hinting it may be quicker still.

Very quick, also very, very fast

In addition to uber-quick launch times, Chevrolet recorded a top speed of 233 mph at the High-Speed Oval Track in Papenburg, Germany.

“The 2025 Corvette ZR1 yet again exceeded our expectations,” said the Corvette’s chief engineer, Josh Holder. “Combined with a top speed record of 233 mph – which is unrivaled by any current production car priced under $1 million – the Corvette ZR1 delivers on its mission to provide customers unrelenting power.”

That unrelenting power comes in the form of a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V-8 with two turbochargers. In addition to the 4-digit horsepower figure, the motor pumps out 828 pound-feet of torque at just 6,000 rpm. All of this means the C8 Corvette reaches new heights yet again.

Final thoughts

The 2025 ZR1 joins an established lineup of C8 Corvettes, with each bringing a unique flavor. The base Stingray brings the value, while the E-Ray pairs the small-block V-8 with a hybrid setup. At the top end, the Corvette Z06 chases the soul of Ferraris with the high-revving naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V-8.

And the ZR1? Well, it pairs that engine to a couple of turbochargers and takes engineering to the max to become the ultimate American hypercar. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet but rest assured, there won’t be anything like it.
