2025 Kia Picanto price and specs

The Kia Picanto has become slightly more expensive for model year 2025, but it’s entering the new year comfortably holding onto the title of Australia’s cheapest car.

The Korean city-car range opens with the Sport manual at $18,290 before on-road costs, or $21,190 drive-away.

List pricing is up by $400 across the range, with drive-away pricing up by $500. We’ve contacted Kia Australia to confirm the reason for the price increase.

Technically, the Picanto is undercut by the previous-generation MG 3, though it’s currently in runout mode with stock only expected to last to the end of the year. Its base price is between $20,330 and $20,836 drive-away, depending on your state or territory.

The new-generation MG 3 is considerably more expensive, with a base drive-away price of over $25,000 in every state and territory.

The Picanto is classified as a micro-car, which technically means it sits in a segment below the likes of the MG 3, Mazda 2 and Suzuki Swift, and alongside the much more expensive old Fiat 500, new battery-electric 500e and their hotter Abarth derivatives.

It received a substantial facelift for 2024, which brought EV9-inspired exterior styling.

This also brought a raft of extra standard equipment including safety kit such as blind-spot assist, lane centring and rear cross-traffic assist, plus comfort features like a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, though there were naturally price rises to go with this.

The base drive-away price climbed by close to $3000, while the top-spec GT with its turbocharged engine was axed.
